VARSITY BOYS RUNNER-UP AT EDISON

MILAN — Two Clyde grapplers earned crowns and six others placed Saturday to guide the Fliers to second at the Edison Invitational. Buckeye beat Clyde 235-182 1/2 for the championship. Lakota ended 13th (15 1/2). Clyde's championships came from 120-pounder Heath Norris pinning Western Reserve's Lucas Summerfield (1:32) and 150-pounder Michael Gessner nosing out Port Clinton's Gavin Cornell in a tiebreaker. The Fliers also got thirds from 126-pounder Hunter Pollock and 138-pounder Wyatt Keegan. Pollock scored an 11-1 major decision against Steele's Chase Chandler, and Keegan pinned Western Reserve's Rily Lutz (:13). Fourths went to 165-pounder Mason Holden, 175-pounder Peyton Franks and 190-pounder Xyience Sours. Holden lost 7-5 to Springfield's Ryan Siler, Franks was pinned by Steele's Isaac Vasquez, and Sours ended 1-3 in round-robin competition. Blake Andres added a sixth at 113 pounds after falling 4-1 to Edison's Brayden Barker.
